Gold Vermeil / 925 Sterling Silver
At Gold Philosophy, our gold vermeil products use 18k gold plating that is 2.5-3.0 microns thick.
Gold Vermeil is also known as “heavy gold plating.” To be called “vermeil,” the item must have sterling silver (As known as 925 silver) as the base metal. The gold must be at least 10k and the plating must measure between 2.5-3.0 microns thickness.
It is more expensive than flash plated and gold plated jewelry because it uses sterling silver as core material and uses a lot more gold to ensure its durability for long-lasting wear.
How to Care / Clean
-
Apply any scents and lotions before you put it on. Gold plated jewelry should not to be worn when showering or exercising. Preventing it from getting wet and keeping it away from harsh chemicals, lotions and perfumes will ensure its lasting quality.
-
We advise that you keep your jewelery in the pouch it came in or alternatively in a zip lock plastic bag this reduces the risk of scratching as well as tarnishing.
-
To keep your jewelry clean we recommend that you gently rub the item with a lint free / soft micro-fiber cloth. Be very careful when cleaning chains and pieces with gems in and make sure it is completely dry before storing the jewelry again.
How to Care
-
Always remember that your Pearls should be the LAST THING YOU PUT ON when dressing and the FIRST THING YOU TAKE OFF when you get home. Avoid letting them come into contact with cosmetics, hair spray, or perfume. Always put on your jewelry as a final touch, after applying make-up and styling hair.
-
Jewelry should be removed before washing hands or working with chemicals and cleansers. When applying hand lotion, remove the ring first, and only replace it when hands are completely dry.
-
When removing a pearl ring, pull only on the metal portion; never pull the pearl itself.
-
The pearl's luster can also be harmed by perspiration. To prevent this, before returning your pearls to the jewelry box, wipe them gently with a soft cloth.
Freshwater Cultured Pearls
Gold Philosophy pearls are freshwater cultured pearls,
which is an organic gemstone that is relatively soft and vulnerable to acid, alkaline, extremes of humidity, and constant physical contact may scratch and shorten the lifespan of the pearl. Like any fine jewelry, cultured pearl jewelry requires careful handling, cleaning, and storage. Special care and knowledge is needed to preserve your pearls’ radiance.
Our Pearl Selection Process
Each one of our jewelry requires incredible attention and judgment as individual variations are bound to occur in each and every cultured pearl. With our meticulous quality control of sorting pearls,
we are able to beautifully present each piece with pearls set in the closest color, size and shape.
